Red Letter Day

Only a few days ago very few people knew we had a major event here in our Sleepy Seaside town unless of course your were a senior.  The LakeTowers where Clary’s Corner Cafe is hidden turned 50  yes FIFTY years and what is significant about that?  I tell you.

Fifty years ago the founders got a 2.4 million dollar loan from HUD to build the structure we know as “The Towers”  for independent senior living. in 2968 is was the founders dream for it to  be safe affordable and dignified housing for our seniors.  On this occasion the other day they made the very last payment to HUD therefore they are mortgage free.. Bring out the Champagne. They also faught all the way to the state supreme court to get tax exemption it was a battle and they won.

Celebrating

They have had several administrators and currently its Bob Spears who presented the check to CR Moor funders son.  A Video was shown to the hundred some attendees .

They managed to purchased the entire block for $200,000 fifty years ago with paid down $ 36,000. There are approx 300 residences in the Towers.  Our Mayor Triollo invited to represent our city and made the proclimation.from the Podium and she got everyones attention when she uttered the word Trolly for which she has secured financing.  In attendance also was Commissioner Herman Robinson wishing everyone well.

Mayor Pam Trioll being recorded for posterity
