Rushing from the Coral Gables Museum I run into Books and Book next door, don’t see what I’m after, abandon that and rush to the car.. Thankful that my friend knows the way to enter the correct lane to get into the airport area, to train platform. Train is there. It’s 4:06 is it running Late? I run, hop on the first car totally out of breath.

Back to first thing in the morning I get a message “can I see you manana?” That would be today. I’m on my way to catch the Tri Rail as I read this. So I respond I’ll be on the 9:15, third car, top deck. I get on in Lake Worth, she, Margaret Rose Allen Anciola is in Boynton.
The plan, to meet at the Mtn gallery by the Cultural Plaza by the clock. Train gets in around six, bus 62E in to town and we meet. Sitting Tri Rail Station waiting for 62e getting colder I realize I have no dollar bills, now what. Driver allows me on board and at Dixie and Lake I’m lone passenger left. I feel bad. I look through my sketch book, can’t find what I’m looking for and settle. I tear out a sketch, take a quick picture of it sign it and give it to the driver as I exit with a thank you for kindness. Did I just pull a Picasso?. Not exactly LOL. He felt his signature had more value than his meal. So tried to give server a napkin w his name.
I pulled a Picasso ?
Arrived cold dishelved, Margaret Rose waiting and we greet one another as if the many years never happened. Margaret Rose Allen Anciola , multimedia artist, painter, Poet, legal translator a true Renaissance person. I’ve known her for ever it seems, she also was looking to move here. I knew only she was South American Argentinian?. Colombian? No. She’s Guatemalan!
To much to share to pose for camera
We went to see L D Shannon’s new works, he was busy and someone tapped me on the shoulder “ Do you recognize me” took a minute, “yes John”.. these Masks, I had on two, my nose felt broken. we were attracted like fireflies to this well lit gallery. All of us Professional artists, Hmust be Art season in S Florida . DelRay Art Fair, Fairchild Garden , 71st annual Beaux ART all this same weekend.

Turn around on Tri Rail. My friend Sherrie had all her submissions accepted. Time to celebrate but doing an opening with crowds? Opted for a personal tour. She collected me from Miami airport station. Took note there was a trolly parked heading into town.
Fairchild Garden Vista by Sherrie Rose
breakfast was first, an eye opener, we drove to the Latin Cafe now called Sergio’s. Been there often. Looking up a new 14 story bldg now casts a shadow over the the Cafe. It’s chilly so we opt sitting inside I’m practicing my Spanish. The place is full. We are on track so not to spend too much time, we ordered the exact same things times three outcomes the food on an automated trolley and it speaks to us “Enjoy Your Food” I was not ready for this, I order something else, just to have the trolley come back again and talk. Now I’m ready in video mode.
OMG. LOL. “Progress is man’s most important invention”
This was just a hole in the wall w great Cuban food. 10 years ago. I’m looking at progress, our future. on to Fairchild Garden’s. Charles flew in from Winter Park, 45 minutes by air, where he teaches photography and he’s on the board of Habitate for Humanity . I have 22 HH houses here, so I know the intricacies from a board perspective as well as a neighbor. Our discussions just flows from topic to topic. Critiquing, lamenting our inactivity for the last two years. My last three paintings abandoned half finished. What’s wrong with us this is the kind of day that all Artist need. Meet up with others, go tho museums, go to gallery’s together, get re-inspired.
All 3 of her paintings were accepted.
entering the gallery i tap Pauline’s on her shoulder recognized her immediately.. found myself saying, (it’s been eleven years) “do you remember me”. she breaks out laughing, of course you’re on Facebook all the time. That’s how I’ve maintained all my artist friends from my gallery days. Recognize quite a few of the participants in this show, from gallery days
Pauline Goldsmith’s ever delicate touch. teaches at Fairchild
. We walk the gardens to the locations that are depicted in her paintings . Sit enjoy the atmosphere and sketch a bit. The air is awesome at Fairchild as I briefly takeoff my mask’s for a deep fresh breath of air, air. no pollution from traffic has reached ithe inner sanctums of these gardens.
Sherrie in her scene, just wonderful
A Quick stop at the local bank, finally meet the person Who ive been n speaking to over years but never met in person i look at the new bank and it’s empty of warmth and I think what happened to all the wonderful art? they always supported the local artist now I’m looking at colors, stripes of colors, hopefully they don’t offend anyone. As we pulled in I take a photo of Lisa Remeny’s Art so recognizable, fabulous and that apparently is the only remnant of a local artist. Coconut Grove had Xmas Receptions by invitation of local artists with their art. I remember as Fred Hunt was one of them.
Lisa Remeny’s mural
Driving through the Grove on Grand Avenue the Cottages that lined the south side are gone and empty lots is all I see. The cottages were still there, when I was involved and a group of us went to Key West to learn about land banking, which is still successful down in Key West but here what happened? Developers just purchased everything and to be honest I see no progress there its empty lots now. and my friends are still fighting for the rights of the Black people there. now it’s a matter of who can hold out longer.
Coral Gables Museum
On to Coral Gables Museum, we call ahead for the price and who’s the artist, the artist is Julio Laraz. next to my husband he was my next favorite living artist. almost met him twice at Art Basil I made it a point to go meet him. I was maybe 35 feet away from him when behind us there was this huge crash and someone had broken some very expensive art, chaos ensued.
Julio Laraz from Video Interview
I sit for the first 15 minutes or so watching a video watching him actually painting in his studio and I’m trying to figure out where is the studio has to be enormous, I’m in total heaven I see paintings that I’ve not seen before and I miss some others but of course they would all have sold. These must be from his own collection. Earlyworks and you see how he developed and I’m reminded of a friend who painted very very much like him 15 minutes watching a video and we just wander to do the galleries beautiful work the videographer was there and so we had a little chat. I have information that she’s not aware of, I originally discovered him up in Woodstock New York via one of his roommates from the early days so I have that and she’s wondering how do you know this. I looked at the clock, Oh my god 15 min. To get to train station. I’ve got to catch the train I have another opening to go to and last time I missed it by three minutes so here we are sitting in traffic and I’m thinking I’ve got a plan better than this next time.
Palm Beach Opera did a 3 day Gig at the much underutilized LWBeach asset. So much happening and unless you follow certain sites or stay tuned, as we come out of our two year enforced stupor .
appreciated guided tour
Saw only once, recognized the opera titles so tried to make sense of what I was looking at, why is it on my feed ?
Discovered this presentation by the PB Opera almost to late. I RsVP and wondered if they would accommodate one person. Got there, I’m the sole person and as I had hoped music familiar welcomed me. I asked to have it much louder.
This Opera I did not know
I returned for Saturday’s limited hours. Got a comprehensive one on one from Gloria a mezzo-soprano, retired from the Metropolitan Opera NY. After performing with them for ten year’s. Now transplanted to Fl. She was wonderful, explained some of the backstage ques. As any production has intricacy that audiences are never aware of. I could relate having watched my favorite La Traviata over 10 times at live performances.
A very heavy morning gown worn by. Violetta In her dying scene Critical info specific to 100 plus backstage crews and chorus personnel
By WPB artist
Wonderful painting of Dido & Aeneas by WPB artist Tracy Guiteau
So my tour continued. She allowed me to hear music, info on her
I Phone as I did not have this app. This exhibition was solely from our own WPB Opera Co. From its inception in West Palm Beach.
Coming this Sat. At 908 Letho Lane, 33461 at the the American-Finnish Club Kerhotalo Love good food and their thin pancakes are almost like crepes. From 8-noon it’s breakfast and flea market, again.. An annual event. Find loved items, being divested not just an ordinary sale.
Got the winning bid last Saturday
last Saturday I attended the other one in Lantana . My intention were to go to the Geen Market. But looking at FB announcement came up on my feed and that determined my destination. Morning ready with my to-go cup but I recalled the tasty food. Was it to be the Jambon at the Green Market, first stall on the left or the once a year lovely large crepes. (not actual crepe but close)
Not what I expected. Ilike the large crepes at the America Finnish place
Ate, satisfied, wandered around taking in the many crests lining the walls depicting their home towns, much like our neighborhood banners.
Last Saturday in Lantana
Then wandered into the other hall to look over the sale. I was going to purchase games for the kids. As last year at the American Finnish Club I had purchased kids games. Always wondered how they came thru adolescents in such good condition. Yes got a few, purchased pearl earrings for a buck.
The piece de resistance this past Sat. Was the item in the Silent Auction a painting. Kept coming back to it, finally put my bid down and wandered aimlessly till it was all over
Well cared for items, that served their purpose.
About this painting. I live in Florida, my home/studio is full of prize winning tropical paintings from my late husband who was commissioned to paint for the Embassy Program. This painting was special, I studied it went back to it time and time again. I’m possessive, once turned down a sale as I did not feel the person understood the value, beyond the price. But where to hang it, next to another original by Lenore Fini in my bedroom. This painting was painted by. ……………….., am told it’s actual value, which I would never be able to afford but that’s not why I picket it. Love at first sight!
Tea pot, a complete setJust look at the opening bid, no takers
Took photo of Tea pot set above for the @HistoricalSocietyofLakeWorthBeach. Some time soon they will have a Tea Party and most likely would have had it were it not been for Covid. They were on the look out for more sets and this will be the best place to find such complete sets.
Got the winning Bid
I had Purchased a gold Tea set several years ago with the intention of breaking it. Told the lady I loved it but would be breaking it for mosaic project. Had to be honest with my intention, after all she cherished it brought it from Finland and I only wanted it to break it. She insisted, take and enjoy your project. Purchased in 2019 and Have not broken the first pc. Using it to entertain the kids with tea party ( lemonade) they have never seen anything quite like it, gold precious magical.
On arrival at 10:00 a.m. the beach had umbrellas up chairs waiting for guests, it was a lovely sight. With two charges in tow in the water before we settled close to the life guard stands.

“ A Day at the Beach “. In photos. Visitors from China, from Ukraine, West Palm Beach and a rescue on the pier.
Saw several Chinese groups there todayFrom the Ukraine. West Palm Beach FamilyAfter a thanksgiving meal w friends at Howly’s where each meal price went to support the following charities: Hhealthy Bellies, the Lords Place, meals on wheels, and Boca Helping Hands
Visiting the pier I captured the following rescue. Did not get the fisherman’s name. The bird was spotted tangled in a abandoned fishing line. This hero reeled it in and the bird trashed about not understanding he was about to be rescued and fed.

A 2 minutes comments at city commission meeting, no matter how many, can not compare to a visual explanation no matter how many descriptive words. my words were cut short.
A spectacular entry from the south
This is an idealized version of what is possible. Not overnight but with phases and a 5 year time line. So what comes first, the obvious. Wonder if a container could be an option for the concession stand. Must we tear down buildings or can they be repurposed.
Glass wall or one with portholes?
When I first got to South Beach I entered a hotel that had a similar wall. As you entered the Lobby, on the left, you could see people in the pool. I was impressed, portholes just like the cruise ships.
Another attraction an Infinity pool
The latest in pool designs also known as an endless pool. Definitely a destination, any tourist to Palm Beach would pay an entry fee for this experience. On the north side a. family center that could double as a club room for rent. 8 tables chairs at least very utilitarian. Parties, kids lessons, corporate meetings. Use your imagination.
The golden hour, sunsetBride descending the staircase photo op
SUNSET an unobstructed view of our golden hour, from the pool or from the cafe a perfect meditative area buffered from the noisy pool sounds by falling water. Accessible from concession stand via a few steps down on the southern side to the seating area and to the north a few steps up to the family area.
There is a need for a bridal Suite. The ballroom is already upstairs. A location from where the bride can make her grand entrance down a staircase into the existing garden. A garden area that already holds weddings. Below the staircase is room for storage.
I included the windturban tree that was featured on a story from France as a future possibility.. I checked price a mere $28.000; located this wind turban tree close to the pump room which is left where it is now.
Wind turban tree
Last but not least what we all want, wanted since the time I served on Leisure Service Board but there were no funds. The specifications as to the lanes required the width for the pool came from Sally Welch. Our in house expert with experience. Tune into you tube under City of Lake Worth Beach and yesterday’s date Nov. 8 to hear the comments. Feel free to comment here.
The few last words that were cut” it will attract out of state visitors bringing vacation dollars to our city.”
