“ A Day at the Beach “. In photos. Visitors from China, from Ukraine, West Palm Beach and a rescue on the pier.
Visiting the pier I captured the following rescue. Did not get the fisherman’s name. The bird was spotted tangled in a abandoned fishing line. This hero reeled it in and the bird trashed about not understanding he was about to be rescued and fed.
This is part 2 of my annual shopping local guide. So here are some suggestions where shopping is easy.
Lovely shop just steps away from both Lake and Lucerne Avenues. On n K st. If you want comfortable resort wear. Great selection of pure Linen mix and match pieces.
Our newest men’s wear shop is located on Lake Ave. just west of our Cultural Council Bldg. great selection. Tailoring available on site.
The price points slightly higher in these shops but it won’t break your bank and it’s not a waiting game “it’s sitting on a container“.
Two days ago I published what kids can buy in our town for $5 bucks. Now where to take a break, rest your legs and get a small bite . Common ground Coffee. Located n s J st. Has charger capacity and people watching always interesting.
Buy local support your community . Wishing y’all the best and time with friends. Yearly I post shopping in Lake Worth Beach within your budget with just $5 in hand for kids or something more that raises eye brows. It’s all available in our quirky litle seaside town.
The Kids could use a bit of guidance. So what do we have in the low range. Let’s start w Gift boxes, at Bali imports. Then Go next door to the Tacky Tourists. Amazing what you can find there, necklaces vintage, couture, pearl pearls and more.
Time for a break and lunch. carry out only. At tropical Market. Each meal portion is one and a half. Has parking lot. Between D and E streets on Lake Ave. Take home or Enjoy at a local park.
The gift that is priceless keeps on giving. Yes $5 a person. Perfect for sharing. Saturday mornings at 1201 Federal, it has a cafe. That delivers to your table while creating. Enjoy a few hours of creativity. I tried it and found it soothing. Starts at 10:30 a.m. all materials included. Just ($5.00)
Check back tomorrow for things at a higher price point and still in Lake Worth Beach
A 2 minutes comments at city commission meeting, no matter how many, can not compare to a visual explanation no matter how many descriptive words. my words were cut short.
This is an idealized version of what is possible. Not overnight but with phases and a 5 year time line. So what comes first, the obvious. Wonder if a container could be an option for the concession stand. Must we tear down buildings or can they be repurposed.
When I first got to South Beach I entered a hotel that had a similar wall. As you entered the Lobby, on the left, you could see people in the pool. I was impressed, portholes just like the cruise ships.
The latest in pool designs also known as an endless pool. Definitely a destination, any tourist to Palm Beach would pay an entry fee for this experience. On the north side a. family center that could double as a club room for rent. 8 tables chairs at least very utilitarian. Parties, kids lessons, corporate meetings. Use your imagination.
SUNSET an unobstructed view of our golden hour, from the pool or from the cafe a perfect meditative area buffered from the noisy pool sounds by falling water. Accessible from concession stand via a few steps down on the southern side to the seating area and to the north a few steps up to the family area.
There is a need for a bridal Suite. The ballroom is already upstairs. A location from where the bride can make her grand entrance down a staircase into the existing garden. A garden area that already holds weddings. Below the staircase is room for storage.
I included the windturban tree that was featured on a story from France as a future possibility.. I checked price a mere $28.000; located this wind turban tree close to the pump room which is left where it is now.
Last but not least what we all want, wanted since the time I served on Leisure Service Board but there were no funds. The specifications as to the lanes required the width for the pool came from Sally Welch. Our in house expert with experience. Tune into you tube under City of Lake Worth Beach and yesterday’s date Nov. 8 to hear the comments. Feel free to comment here.
The few last words that were cut” it will attract out of state visitors bringing vacation dollars to our city.”
No ordinary film. As it was being canned, heard it was in production. Intrigued as I had knowledge of the massive amount of letters, 50 + boxes stored, unopened at the Taleo Art Center in Woodstock. Letters from all over the world, requesting $$$ from needy, desperate people or scammers. Money being given away for love and peace by the Oleo Margarine heir, his entire inheritance.
This was in the Hippy Era. A mostly a sad film punctuated with humorous moments and many “A” listers. A time when “15 minutes of fame” attributed to Andy Warhol. Michael Brody’s fame burned bright 12 amazing days, it seemed much much longer. He appeared on the Ed Sullivan show. He was known to tip cabbies hundred dollar bills. ( not in the film ).
Currently it is making the circuit of art film screenings at which time it will then head to the movie houses around the country. This took place via the Miami Dade College film department 20 selections being shown over a weeks time. This was one of the openers. Tickets available via MIAMIFILMFESTIVAL.com Ends Wed. The 10th
I was the guest of Michael Brody Jr. who has been a friend and a collector of my late husbands art. He was instrumental in providing us with a studio and I was charged With creating the Taleo Art Center in Woodstock N.Y. . Should not have been surprised that one of Fred Hunt’s paintings appeared in the film.
The headlines in every newspaper covered this story. Walter Cronkite toked with them. This film was not about the 50 containers of unopened letters Resting in Woodstock. A whole storage of boxes of unopened letters was found in N Y City. The postal service could not keep up and bags were abandoned, possibly burned. The $$ went out as fast as letters arrived or as hands reached out, as Michael tried to walk the streets of N.Y London with entourage and guard. Lots of letters in this film were what I refer to as Mail Art One letter depicted a woman drowning, perhaps in debt, reaching above the waves for salvation. The producers actually located a few letter writers who barely recalled writing for help in 1970.
Later we ended close to the Design District for midnight snacks. Morning breakfast always at Coral Bagels under my 15 min of fame Coconut Grove. LoL Just making sure it’s still there.
